Dance meets circus in Quimera, a powerful and darkly funny performance from Nua Dance, inspired by Cervantes’ Don Quixote. Quimera is a retiree and she wants to change the world, emerging from her tiny room into a fantastical landscape that inadvertently leads her to become a hero.

Nua Dance presents its newest and most ambitious work to date with a five-person intergenerational ensemble, led by Sarah Dowling (Royal Opera House associate artist), featuring circus and dance artists. Combining elements of contemporary dance with aerial and acrobatics techniques, choreographer Neus Gil Cortés exposes the contradictions of a world we often choose not to see with her characteristic mix of humour with quirky and extreme physicality.

QUIMERA will preview on 17 August 2018 at Jackson’s Lane and is supported by Arts Council England, Dance City Newcastle, Jackson’s Lane and the Alacran Group.
